Congratulations to Danny Taylor’s team. After we tied with them for 2nd place during the regular season, they won the rubber match and are advancing to the playoffs along with the first place team from Moody. They beat us 2 of 3 times this year and were the better team. They played well and deserve to go to the playoffs.
On the bright side, Andrew and 2 of his teammates were picked up by the first place Moody team for the playoffs. This is an outstanding team that I think has a shot at winning state. It could be a fun ride for the next few weeks.
Drew lowered his time in the 800m by about 8 seconds down to 2:49.47 and he did it in 100+ degree heat! He placed 3rd, but was very close to 1st and 2nd. I think he can beat them at regionals.
Andrew ran in and won the 10-and-under 800m at the McGregor summer track meet. He ran a 2:57, which is a pretty good time–especially for his first race of the year AND given the fact that he played a late baseball game the night before. Here is the video:
We won a hard fought, come-from-behind victory over the other McGregor team tonight 12-11. The team played great. Unfortunately, about half the opposing kids refused to shake our kids’ hands. Coach and parents: if you are reading this you need to foster better sportsmanship in your kids. That’s one of the lessons they need to learn at this age.
We had a really good game tonight. We won 22-1, which brings our record to 8-3 with two games left in the season. Drew had a good game. He was 2-3 and really hit the ball well. I haven’t posted a video in a while, so here are his two hits:
How cool is this? We ran into Jeremy Wariner by the pool at our hotel. We interrupted his dinner of Chick-fil-A to get a picture. He was super nice. I’ll post more pics of the meet later, but I just had to get this out on the website.
Here is the photo album. I’ll be adding more after today’s races:
We lost last Tuesday, but we won our game last night (6/9/09) 10-3. That brings our record to 6-3. We played really well as a team. We pitched well and hit better than we did in the previous game. Drew didn’t get a hit–he popped one up to the pitcher and another to second base. He’s making contact and the hits will start falling.
We moved to 5-2 on the season with last night’s 5-4 win at Bruceville-Eddy. Drew didn’t have a good game at the plate (0-3), but he played well in the field. We don’t play again until next Tuesday.
